A troubling or difficult situation, such as a loss, crisis, or change in emotional or physical health, can cause someone to question their spiritual beliefs about the meaning and purpose of life. Difficult situations and painful circumstances can cause one to re-examine values and convictions that are easy to accept in less distressing times, and can also challenge one to connect one’s spiritual beliefs to the therapeutic process of change and growth in a deeper way.
Many people find that including their own faith in the work done in therapy enables them to access resources that can help them to gain insight and develop new skills and abilities.
